“we are not satisfiedwe have to continue working hard on security because We don’t want to get used to a violent society”President Luis Lacalle Pou told Channel 5 News during his recent visit to Paraguay.
The president met with the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, to discuss a plan against the wave of homicides that have occurred in recent days.
The president highlighted the drop in most crimes, however he recognized an increase in the number of homicides in recent weeks. “Perhaps the strong squeeze on drug trafficking generates these things,” he suggested. But he insisted on not pigeonholing the homicides to settling scores or bar fights.
“The minister brought me a plan, there is a strategy,” assured Lacalle Pou and highlighted the minister’s words: do not give in “not one meter to drug trafficking”.
