President Luis Lacalle Pou met with Prince Carlos (Charles) at his Clarence House residence, during his visit to the United Kingdom.
As the British Embassy in Uruguay posted on Twitter, The topics of the meeting revolved around climate change and the participation that Uruguay can have in the Sustainable Markets initiative, promoted by the prince.
The initiative was launched by Charles in 2020 and is guided by the Terra Carta, which aspires to environmental recovery by 2030 with the commitment of private companies.
Lacalle Pou is the second Uruguayan president to officially visit the United Kingdom. The first was Luis Alberto Lacalle Herrera, who traveled in 1993. During his visit, Queen Elizabeth awarded him the title of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George.
Lacalle Pou’s meeting with the prince took place thanks to a surprise invitation from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the Uruguayan president.
Previously, the president had announced that they would bring to the United Kingdom issues from the commercial sector, both raw materials and renewable energy.
