The President of the Republic participated in the meeting, held in Montevideo, which brings together the referents of the fuel companies of Uruguay and the region. On this occasion, the country assumed the ad hoc presidency of this area, of which it is a founding member, since 1992. The event that began this Wednesday 7, at the Hyatt hotel and will last for four days, was attended by the Uruguayan president, who was accompanied by the secretary of the presidency, Álvaro Delgado, and the national energy director of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), Fitgerald Cantero.
Also participating were the president of the Union of Nafta Sellers of Uruguay (Unvenu) and permanent secretary general of Claec, Daniel Añón; the incoming president of the Latin American Commission of Fuel Entrepreneurs (Claec), Daniel Sanguinetti; and the manager of Federico de Castro Storace.
In his speech, Cantero considered that these instances of exchange are positive for analysis in the face of a changing world.
He recalled that the Uruguayan Government is in a process of seeking greater transparency and efficiency in the fuel distribution chain, while working to strengthen the regulatory body. For this, gradual changes are carried out, he specified.
The Director of Energy also pointed out that the Government must provide freedom to companies and individuals to use the service of their choice. He also spoke of a vision for the future as part of the energy transformation implemented.
