“These companies have done the country very well, they have provided jobs and been at the forefront of technology for many years, and now they require another type of investment,” said the president, Lacalle Pou, this Thursday 11 at a lunch, held in Montevideo, organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Television for Subscribers (CUTA) within the framework of its twenty-sixth anniversary.
The Uruguayan president recognized that the sector is undergoing, in real time, many changes worldwide, and said that his presence at the celebration of this day is due to the need to listen to their representatives to grant certainty.
“It is up to us to be in the Government and the option is that these companies continue to exist. or that they run a course due to the fact that the mere omission of investment and of not changing the legislation ends with this type of enterprise, ”warned Lacalle Pou in his brief intervention.
For his part, the head of CUTA, Washington Melo, thanked the President of the Republic for his presence and recalled that on each anniversary the chamber issues a speech previously agreed upon by all its members. In that sense, he said it is a conglomerate basically made up of SMEs which is strongly impacted by technology. However, he advanced that from his sector it is glimpsed, with relative certainty, that he will be able to place himself at the same level as the world’s providers, because they will be able to annex internet services.
