Lacalle Pou participated in activities commemorating the 197th anniversary of the Battle of Sarandí

The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, headed, this Wednesday the 12th, the commemorative acts of a new anniversary of the Battle of Sarandí, in Sarandí Grande, Florida. Then, the president attended the inauguration of a complex in the Barrio Viña Sports and Social Club, built with a contribution of more than 4 million pesos, from the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works.

Also present at the activity were the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado; the Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Irene Moreira; his peer from Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero; the undersecretary of that portfolio, Juan José Olaizola, and the mayor of Florida, Guillermo López.

The day of celebration began with a traditional civic-military parade, in which, among others, the CAIF Casita del Parque, the Faustino Harrison high school and the Sarandí Grande agrarian school participated. Members of schools No. 7, Simón Bolívar; No. 38, Juan Antonio Lavalleja; No. 29, Justino Zampin: No. 3.0 Chuchilla del Paraná; No. 58, Battle of Sarandí, and Special School No. 113.

Once the march was over, the protocol act was carried out. On behalf of the Government, Minister Moreira pointed out in her speech the importance of interpreting the historical reality in the search for a better quality of life for the inhabitants, through the combination of resources. She alluded to educational transformation, as an egalitarian environment that generates opportunities. She added that these are “changes that cannot be postponed” that must be made as soon as possible.

In addition, he emphasized the need to reform the social security system, which he described as unfair and likely to collapse in the medium term. To prevent this decline, he stated, a bill is being drafted within the Executive Branch that seeks to contribute to the best possible reform, taking into account acquired rights.

Likewise, the hierarch emphasized the work being done to end settlements throughout the country, a task that is materialized through plans such as Avanzar, tools such as the Juntos program, and Mevir, with which it seeks to provide a solution housing for those most in need. Moreira said that the resources allocated to address this situation show that the national government is sensitive and added that it seeks to provide solutions to 120 settlements with an investment of 480 million dollars.

In his speech, Mayor López spoke about the Battle of Sarandí and assured that it is time to find the strength to face new challenges in historical values. In this context, he assured that the commune is committed to improving public spaces, lighting, rural roads, productive, social and cultural development.

After the oratory, President Lacalle Pou, Mayor López and Mayor Stopingi placed a floral offering at the foot of the monument to the aforementioned battle. The flag of Sarandí Grande was also raised.

Inauguration of the Barrio Viña Sports and Social Club complex

During his visit to the department of Florida, President Lacalle Pou attended, together with the Secretary General of the Mayor’s Office, Marcos Pérez, and authorities from the Executive Power, the inauguration of the works of the 3 de Junio ​​complex, of the Barrio Deportivo y Social Club Viña, carried out within the framework of the Social Agreements program, which is in the orbit of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP).

On this occasion, the club, with more than 250 members, built a sports complex, which includes a soccer field, changing rooms, canteen and perimeter fence, with the contribution of 4,200,000 pesos from the portfolio. Meanwhile, the institution had 800,000 pesos.

Undersecretary Olaizola highlighted, in his speech, that the realization of these works will benefit the children and families of the locality. He also indicated that the contribution of the Social Agreements program makes it possible to achieve infrastructures that are often “a dream”, and that, thanks to the efforts of local communities and this program, can become a reality.

After the presentations, the ribbon was cut and President Lacalle Pou toured the new facilities.
