President Luis Lacalle Pou greeted the Uruguayan under 20 team a few minutes after its consecration as world champion in La Plata.
“Uruguay champion that no or no!!! Congratulations to the players, the coaching staff and all those who made this dream possible,” the president wrote on Twitter.
Several leaders celebrated the victory on their social networks. Lorena Ponce de León, owner of the Sembrando program and the president’s partner, also celebrated the victory: “Uruguay Champion! Great effort from the team and technical team! Congratulations to everyone!”, she published on Instagram.
Mayor Carolina Cosse echoed the news: “Uruguay nomá!!! Dale champion”, she published on Twitter.
In this sense, the mayor of Canelones, Yamandú Orsi, also spoke: “What a joy we needed. Thank you gurises! Let’s go Uruguay damn!!!”, he published.
The secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, wrote on his Twitter account: “Uruguay nomá!!!! Congratulations Sub 20 World Champions!!!! We continue writing the history of football!!! What joy they gave to the whole country Thanks a lot!!!! Up Uruguay”.
The congratulations came from the entire political spectrum: “How nice! Just Uruguay!”, published the former senator from Colorado Pedro Bordaberry.
One of the most particular greetings came from the Colorado deputy, Gustavo Zubía, who took the opportunity to answer the question that former vice president Lucía Topolansky had made to the National Party: “What was it like that Topolansky said that we are jettatore?
