In his first moments in the United Kingdom, the president, Luis Lacalle Pou, and his delegation were received by the British ambassador to Uruguay Faye O’Connor, by Lord Sharpe of Epsom, courtier of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and the Uruguayan ambassador to London Cesar Rodriguez Zavalla.
In the delegation of the Uruguayan president are the Foreign Minister, Francisco Bustillo; the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Omar Paganini; the pro-secretary of the Presidency, Rodrigo Ferrés and the chief of staff of the Foreign Ministry, Fernando López Fabregat.
Lacalle Pou was invited at the initiative of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who will receive him at number 10 Downing Street, an instance that the Uruguayan government intends to take advantage of to strengthen commercial ties. In addition, the president will have a meeting with the royal family, since he will be received by Prince Charles at Clarence House.
“We will see what level of understanding we reach with the government to later promote and that the private sector eventually has a delegation and a visit,” Lacalle Pou said this Friday in reference to his visit.
