On Tuesday, September 27, the substitute judge Matías Porciúncula ordered Astesiano to be held in preventive detention for 30 days, for the crimes of: “conspiracy to commit a crime”, a “continued crime of alleged marital status as co-author” (falsifying state civil), and a crime of influence peddling”. Astesiano operated from his office on the fourth floor of the Executive Tower.
The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, expressed his surprise at the fact, and said that Astesiano had no criminal record.
However, it was known that Astesiano had twenty police investigations since 2003, for crimes such as: theft, fraud, damage and misappropriation, but “no criminal record”, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, had said. at a press conference, after learning of the arrest and incommunicado detention.
However, in the last few hours, it transpired that, in 2013, Astesiano had completed a judicial process that led to his imprisonment for four months for a “continued fraud” crime, according to La Diaria.

It was also learned that Astesiano’s link with the Presidency of the Republic was through an “assignment contract”.
The Presidential security service is made up mostly of police officers who are commissioned, but also by former police officers, as in the case of Astesiano.
As a result of the events, Lacalle ordered that all security officials submit criminal record files, in order to carry out their duties.
