The Ministry of Health and Sports through the National Institute of Health Laboratories (Inlasa) trained specialists in the country’s laboratories in the transport and collection of smallpox samplesica.

Bolivia confirmed to date the presence of four cases of monkeypox in male patients, They are under constant observation and control, in addition to twenty suspicious people who had contact with these cases, all in the city of Santa Cruz.

“We carry out this course with the intention of delivering correct information about which implies the transport and taking of samples for the diagnosis of this disease”, informed the executive general director of Inlasa, Evelín Fortún.

He added that in the course addressed to the Departmental Laboratory Coordination specialists (Codelab), they were given all the technical details, how to work, the way in which this type of samples should be sent, in addition to the directions about the pathology, symptomatologyinformation that he insisted, must reach all the laboratories in the departments of the country.

It should be noted that, of the four patients, one (the last detected) is admitted to the Elvira Wünderlich health center, According to the assessment of the health authorities, since it is the first case of local transmission.

The other three patients are in home isolation and are receiving symptomatic treatment. Moreover, in the first, the skin lesions are in the crusting stage.
