This Tuesday, the workers of the Acodike company have taken over the packaging plant located on the Lecocq road. So far, it is unknown how long this measure of force will last, although the intervention of the Ministry of the Interior is expected.
According to Andrés Guichón, a member of the Acodike union, the company has shown no willingness to negotiate during a meeting held yesterday at the Labor Ministry. Furthermore, the company’s strategy to address the harvest season remains unclear.
Guichón denounces that, although they were told that the evening shift was not necessary, today a truckload of outsourced workers showed up at 1:00 p.m., and extra hours were offered to non-union affiliated employees.
Faced with this situation, the workers request the intervention of the Executive Branch to find a fair and equitable solution for all parties involved. According to Guichón, the impunity of the company before the Ministry of Labor is alarming, and they ask the government to take measures to solve these unjustified dismissals.
Days ago, Acodike held the union responsible for the dismissal of workers and the workers responded that the assertions “are far from reality.”
