The Antecedent Employment Indicator (IAEmp), calculated by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), retreated by 0.8 point from December to January of this year. The index reached 73.9 points and remains at a historically low level, according to the FGV.
IAEmp seeks to anticipate trends in the labor market for the coming months, based on interviews with consumers and industry and service businessmen.
Four of the seven components of the index contributed to the drop in the indicator in January this year, with emphasis on the indices of the current situation and trend of business in the service sector.
