Labor demand fell in February and technology was the most affected

80% of calls from the public sector are concentrated in education, health, finance, engineering, industry and administration. The main destination of the calls from the State was Education, with 62 opportunities, which represented 27% of the sector’s demand.

“This activity registered an increase of 14 opportunities compared to the previous monthwhich represents a growth rate of 29%”, explained the consultant.

It is followed by health, with 55 proposals, which translates into 24% of the positions demanded from the public sector. In February, a 15% drop was observed compared to January, with 10 less demanded positions.

By zones

Of the total calls registered in February, 75.4% correspond to works of companies located in Montevideo. 16.3% from the interior of the country7.7% do not specify the department and 1% are called with opportunities abroad (this means 23 proposals, whose main destination is Brazil).

Of the departments of the interior, Canelones is the one that demanded the most charges in February 2022, with 7% of the opportunities generated in Uruguay. Maldonado and Salto followed with 3% and 2% respectively.

“From a monthly perspective, in Montevideo the number of job opportunities increased by 15% and in the rest of the country it was reduced by 7%”, states the report, which also adds: “From a year-on-year perspective, Montevideo increased the number of opportunities by 1,617, which represents a 132% increase. The rest of the country as a whole increased 54% in February 2022, with 216 calls more than the same month of the previous year.

Telecommuting and languages

Job opportunities with the option of telecommuting accumulated 18% of all calls in February 2022.
