On International Labor Day, the country finds itself in the midst of several labor challenges. The Dane, in the last week, reported a figure of unemployment of 12.1%. Although the figure decreased compared to March 2021, experts agree that the lack of work in the country is high.

With the pandemic, the problems for the job recovery, informality, gender and occupation gaps. In this sense, there are still 2.9 million unemployed people.
Refering to gender gap, in March 2022 the Dane reported that this was 6 percentage points. This places women with an unemployment figure of 15.6% and 9.6% for men.
However, for every man who got his job back, two women got it back. As for the cities that contributed the most to the reduction in unemployment, they were Bogotá (0.97 pps) and Medellín (0.41 pps).
UNEMPLOYED COLOMBIANS
Initially, it should be noted that there is a prevalence of unemployed women. By March 2022, the Dane recorded that 1.6 million women they were jobless. That is, 53.7%.
On the other hand, men were 46.3%. That is 1.38 million.
Now, of the unemployed women, 63.1% are between 25 and 54 years old, 28.5% between 25 and 54 years old and 8.4% over 55 years old. Which indicates that in addition to hitting the female population harder, it also hits the youngest.

Regarding the unemployed women in Colombia, they focus on 13 major cities and metropolitan areas: Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Manizales, Pereira, Cúcuta, Pasto, Ibagué, Montería, Cartagena and Villavicencio.
Most of the unemployment is concentrated in the capitals, rather than in rural areas.
With regard to unemployed men, the Dane states that they are 1.38 million in this group. Most of them between 25 and 54 years old, that is, 763,000 people.
Along with this, the Dane showed that the unemployed are concentrated in the population that only has basic secondary (1.2 million), then basic primary (506,000), professional technique (313,000), secondary and normal education (285,000).

In the case of university students, they are 279,000.
