Labor Day: Migrations will restart this May 1 migration control on the land border with Chile

Tomorrow, Sunday, May 1, the National Superintendence of Migration will restart migration control activities on the border between Peru and Chile, through the border control posts, Santa Rosa de Tacna and the Chacalluta Complex in Arica.

The PCF Santa Rosa is the second point of greatest migratory movement in the country, after the Migratory Control Post of the Jorge Chávez International Airport.

The Chilean government announced that as of May 1 it will reopen the land borders with Peruafter two years of pandemic COVID-19. This, after several extraordinary coordination meetings of the Bilateral Coordination Committee (CCB)which is responsible for the operation of both border posts, in accordance with the provisions of the Framework Agreement for the implementation of integrated control and cooperation systems to facilitate transit between Peru and Chile.

The Committee is made up of Migrations, Customs, Senasa, National Police of Peru, Diresa Tacna, Foreign Affairs, among other Peruvian institutionswhile the Chilean involved the Regional Directorate of Customs of Arica, the Investigative Police (PDI), the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Health (Seremi) and the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG).

The Bilateral Coordination Committee (CCB) agreed on the following schedules:

  • Santa Rosa Border Control Post: attention goes from 07:00 am to 10:00 pm from Peru
  • Chacalluta Complex: attention will be from 08:00 am to 11:00 pm in Chile.

What are the requirements for entering Peru and Chile?

ENTRY TO CHILE

To enter Chile, they must have the National Identity Document (DNI) or the electronic passport, complete an affidavit, which is valid for 48 hours, and the vaccination card against COVID-19 with 3 doses for adults.

The approval or validation of vaccines is voluntaryand if it does, it will allow the traveler to use the “mobility pass”, which is required to enter closed places in Chile. The procedure is carried out in the and has a duration of 10 days.

In the case of non-resident aliens (tourists), they must have a health insurance with coverage for COVID-19 in Chile.

ENTRY TO PERU

To enter Peru, travelers are required to present their identity document, the Traveler’s affidavit to prevent COVID-19physically or virtually, which takes place in the .

In addition to accrediting the vaccinations against COVID-19, according to their age group, or otherwise, presenting PCR or antigen test with negative result, performed with a time not greater than 48 hours.
