La Vinotinto beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in FIFA International Friendlies

All these matches count for the world ranking and could define the participation of any team in the Copa América or Euro 2024, for example.

The Venezuelan soccer team defeated Saudi Arabia 2-1 on Friday, March 24, in a match that took place within the framework of the International Friendly Games organized by the International Association Football Federation (FIFA) every year.

In this first meeting, the Argentine Fernando ‘Bocha’ Batista made his debut as technical director of La Vinotinto, replacing José Pekerman, who held the position for one year and three months.

With two goals scored in the first half, by the new signing of River Plate Salomón Rondón and Inter Miami striker Josef Martínez, the team demonstrated forcefulness, precision and organization in the friendly played at the Príncipe Abdullah al-Faisal stadium, in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia started the second half well and had control of the ball, but the effort was insufficient, as the Venezuelans were strong in defense and prevented the rival from advancing to the risk zone.

Saudi Arabia’s goal marked a new rhythm in the battle and served to corner the Venezuelan team that showed imbalance, but managed to keep the score in favor.

The Venezuelans will play again this Tuesday, March 28, against the Uzbekistan team, while Saudi Arabia will face Bolivia.

It is worth mentioning that some of these duels will be official, such as the qualifiers for Euro 2024, while others will be friendly. All these matches also count for the world ranking and could define the participation of any team in the Copa América, for example,
