With the celebrated inclusion in his repertoire of some great classics that had not been part of the previous shows, such as “El revelde”, “Balada del diablo y la muerte” and “Today I’m going to dance to the ship of oblivion” , La Renga closed its series of three concerts at the Ciudad de La Plata Stadium on Saturday night, as part of the presentation tour of its latest album “Alejado de la red”.
Over two and a half hours, the trio made up of Chizzo Nápoli, Tete Iglesias and Tanque Iglesias put their hands on a devastating set of some 30 songs, among which they included practically all their new compositions and the songs that made it one of the the most convening numbers of Argentine rock.
“What a pity that it is the last one from La Plata, others are going to come”, Chizzo told the public halfway through the show, perhaps as proof of how positive this experience of playing again in an area near the Capital, where he has not performed since 2017, was for the group.
The expectation began to feel from early around the stadium and, with the doors opening in the middle of the afternoon, it also moved inside, where Los Extraterribles, Perro Indio, Willie Quiroga and Sueño de Pescado animated the wait.
Finally, at 10:08 p.m., the group burst onto the scene with “Good Pipe” and “Elephants Poking”two songs from his new album, to later shake the already excited audience with “Tripa y corazón”.
On the tour, which had its first closure two hours later and lasted another half hour with the encores, there was no lack of songs like “Dream trigger”, “Infernal art”, “The end is where I started” and “The reason that it takes you”, among others.
For the encores were the chants “We are the same as always”, “Panic Show”, “The wind that pushes everything” and “Speaking of freedom”.
He spoke of the abuse of women in recitals
Before performing “Infernal Art”, Chizzo echoed the movement made up of female fans “A step back”which makes visible abuses suffered in recitals in the middle of the pogo, and joined the claims so that they can join this ritual without fear of being victims.
In keeping with that desire, the guitarist and singer himself organized an exclusive circle for the women’s pogo in the following theme.
It happens that these concerts by La Renga the alarms had been raised due to the long history of cancellations that drags the group, always as a result of the resentment that arouses in authorities the amount of public that it mobilizes.
In this sense, these concerts in La Plata were highly commented on by public opinion based on complaints from neighbors in the media about the behavior of the fans.
In the midst of these questionsespecially when there was talk of suspension of classes and preventive closures of shops for the recital, the group had to suspend the second concert scheduled for last April 27 due to a flu-like state of Chizzo, which generated some confusion until it was They cleared things up.
The truth is that after the shows on April 23 and 30, last night the saga could finally be completed in a more than optimal way.
Beyond the background noise, La Renga managed to fulfill the old desire to perform for the people of Buenos Aires and its surroundings, and now it will continue touring throughout the country. The legend continues.
