The Government and the municipality of La Paz entered into a frank dispute for the celebrations of July 16. The governor, Santos Quispe, complained about the activities organized by the municipality and, not being taken into account, decided to organize his own celebration with his own agenda.
“We have been thinned out by the mayorwe are doing our parade own, which will leave from the brewery at 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and it will end on Camacho avenue, and we are also doing our own festival that will be in the city of El Alto”, said the first departmental authority.
The municipality of La Paz has already defined all the festivitiesas it happens every year. This Saturday will begin with the honorary session of the Municipal Council in the town hall at 10:30 a.m.; at 12:00 the municipal civic parade will be held in the north zone; at 1:00 p.m.there will be the traditional festival of La Paz; while at 4:00 p.m. the protocol act of lighting the Murillo torch is scheduled in the house of the proto-martyr from La Paz and where the national, departmental and municipal governments usually attend.
According to the official schedule, the transfer of the ballot boxes of the heroes of La Paz will take place on Sunday, July 16 at 07:00 from the Cathedral to Plaza Murillo (this Friday they were transferred from the Basilica of San Francisco to the Cathedral); at 07:30 the act of floral offerings will begin in Plaza Murillo; At the same time, the religious ceremony will take place in the Metropolitan Cathedral and the military honors to the Virgen del Carmen; Finally, the traditional lunch is planned in the southern area of La Paz.
While the governor also presented his “agenda” departmental, according to this program this Saturday July 15 will begin at 09:00 with the honor session of the Departmental Legislative Assembly; later at 12:00 a lunch is scheduled in a central hotel in the city; at 2:00 p.m. the parade of the Governor will begin; and 5:00 p.m. there will be three parallel acts, the floral offering, going to the tea parade and starting the festival in the city of El Alto.
“What worries me a lot is that there are three sessions of honorwe were finding out, one is directed by the Mayor’s Office, the other by the Departmental Assembly and the other is by the Parliamentary Brigade, I really don’t know why they are dividing our department,” lamented Quispe, who this Friday issued departmental law 224 that authorizes to the Government as the sole organizer of civic events.
