Once again, a vehicle trying to outrun the train was hit by the locomotive in the Chicla sector at kilometer 110 of the Central Highway, completely closing the pass on the La Oroya – Lima highway.
This accident occurred at approximately 6:00 in the morning on Monday, January 6. Police personnel at the scene reported no deaths but injuries from the tanker full of palm oil, a flammable product.
The tension increased as the oil from the tanker was dripping onto the road. Almost at 10 in the morning, the Central Andino Railway train was able to back up to take out the tanker and traffic began in a restricted manner.
