The The National Association of Savings and Loans reported that 2022 was a period in which it achieved structural and financial achievements that translate into good performance in the sector, despite market inconsistencies. Their assets recorded an increase of 0.9% last year.
The information was detailed by the executive vice president of the association, Gustavo Zuluaga, who explained that the total assets closed in 36,809 million pesos and net worth registered an increase of 622 million, for 11.5%.
Zuluaga led a meeting with members of the press from the economic area, in which he gave a detailed report on the entity’s performance during the past 2022, an occasion that he took advantage of to express the resilience of the economy Dominican Republic and the financial sector.
Before continuing with the breakdown of the figures, Zuluaga raised his perspective about the economy for this year: “We understand that the rates they are going to keep stableIn this sense, we reflect on the importance of the existence of the fixed rate, which, in turn, is the challenge that financial entities have to assume in the market, so that with our operations the stability of rates is promoted. and is reflected in the good behavior or state of the income of the people”.

Two branches opened
Zuluaga reported that the La Nacional Association has 54 offices or service points, which are distributed in 17 provinces of the country. Two of them were inaugurated in 2022.

When talking about the credit card in 2022, explained that it presents a “favorable evolution, since it was of 1,983 million of pesos, for a growth of a 7.9%, in relation to the previous period. 20% of the credits were allocated to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
For the past year, the association granted credits to more than 3,500 companies from the MSME sector. The funds were used in priorities for business stability:

- debt consolidations
- Adaptations to your business
While the placement of commercial credits and for the construction of housing projects, its main focus was on loans through trusts, which is part of the synergy strategy implemented by La Nacional together with its subsidiary Fiduciaria La Nacional.
In this sense, they concluded 12 projects of homes delivered, with a participation of the entity in loans for construction and in long-term loans for the purchase of real estate. For this 2023, 10 housing projects began, the executive assured.
They invest RD$200 million annually
La Nacional invests approximately 200 million pesos a year in technological innovation, which includes maintaining platforms, updating services and strengthening its cybersecurity platform. The executive vice president told the press that by 2023 some projects would materialize that they have in development, such as: the Transactional Switch, Wallet Tokenization, Digital Signature and Onboarding.
Also other digital products such as the single digital customer file, in order to achieve greater banking access and modernization of the processes corresponding to customer signatures in operations that were previously carried out in person, he highlighted.
