La Moneda closes controversy with Israeli ambassador: “No one will ever be persecuted for their ideas”

“What happened was a decision in pursuit of events that occurred the night before where a minor had been murdered. And where the presentation of the diplomatic letters was rescheduled for September 30.” This is how President Gabriel Boric referred, during the Ecumenical Te Deum of National Holidays, to the controversy raised in La Moneda by the credentials of the Israeli ambassador Gil Artzyeli.

“It seems to me that these things must be treated with great care, we are a people and a country that is about to contribute to peace, and within the framework of this issue we have always said that international law must be respected, the borders of 1967”, said the President, from the Cathedral of Santiago.

President Boric took the opportunity to address the Jewish community: “I read the statement they issued and know that like every Chilean and every person who lives in our country, no one will ever be persecuted or intimidated or for their ideas, worldviews, or political, unless, of course, he breaks the law, which is not the case.

“I want to give that peace of mind. From our point of view, it is an impasse that was overcome with the declarations of both the Foreign Ministry and the counterpart State,” concluded the Head of State.
