The professor and researcher of the Antenor Orrego Private University, José Carlos Orrillo Puga, expressed his concern about the agricultural invasions that have been registered in intangible archaeological zones of the Quebrada Santo Domingo, located in the district of Laredo. The communicator and photographer entered his complaint in the culture Ministry for them to act immediately.
“The invasions that are acting with impunity in the archaeological sites of Santo Domingo. In the Quebrada Santo Domingo, for months a group of invaders (recidivists) have re-installed their farms in the area using technical irrigation, building ranches and water wells and expanding their crops further and further into the area of the geoglyphs. Nobody evicts them,” he said.
Orrillo Puga already made the complaint in the culture Ministry and hopes that they can proceed and thus watch over the archaeological sites of Santo Domingo.

“As is public knowledge, this archaeological zone has been suffering in the last twenty years different destructive impacts, having been used first as a quarry by the Chavimochic Project in 2004, later as a garbage dump by nearby poultry farms and since the from 2012 to 2016, due to the presence of a large-scale agricultural invasion promoted by land traffickers, which destroyed a large part of the archaeological heritage of the area, including the attack on the Triple Spiral geoglyph that was destroyed with a tractor and later rebuilt by the MINCUL”, indicated in the document that entered the Ministry of Culture.
Likewise, he was able to verify that the sectors of the intangible zone have even been subdivided and they have even installed irrigation systems with pipes for technical irrigation, motor pumps and water wells.
“Today, the agricultural invaders are settled on the Quebrada Santo Domingo and continue to carry out their illegal activities due to the inaction of the authorities, entering the archaeological zone daily and destroying the cultural heritage with impunity,” sentenced.
