The renowned journalist Fernando Núñez Guevara, director of the Kamila Noticias Guadalupe media outlet, was shot dead on Saturday night when he was in the area known as the curve towards La Barranca, in the district of Guadalupe, in the province of Pacasmayo.
According to initial information, two criminals who were aboard a motorcycle intercepted the communicator, who was also traveling in his smaller vehicle in the company of his brother, on the Panamericana Norte highway. The criminals opened fire and killed the lawyer and manager of Son D’ Núñez Sonido & Orquesta (previously called Orquesta La Nano Band).
The journalist’s brother was also hit by the projectiles and was rushed to the Tomás Lafora Hospital in Guadalupe.
The jurisdictional Police and a representative of the Public Ministry carried out the tests.

The Federation of Journalists of Peru, through the Federated Center of Journalists of La Libertad, expressed its repudiation of the murder of Núñez Guevara.
“The Federation of Journalists of La Libertad expresses its repudiation of the treacherous crime against journalist Fernando Núñez Guevara, director of the Kamila Noticias de Guadalupe portal. This is a new and very worrying incident against the media in our country,” they stated in a press release.
Likewise, they asked that this bloody incident be clarified. “We demand immediate clarification of this terrible fact and that it not go unpunished. We call on the corresponding institutions to investigate and punish those guilty of such an execrable crime,” they detailed.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Municipality of Pacasmayo expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the press man.
“Municipal Council led by our provincial mayor, and workers in general, we express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Fernando Núñez Guevara, director of the Kamila Noticias portal, digital media of our province of Pacasmayo. Journalism of the Jequetepeque Valley in mourning”they highlighted.
It is worth mentioning that the National Association of Journalists of Peru Chepén Branch reported that Núñez Guevara was its recording secretary.
