Representatives of the Venezuelan state of La Guaira and the city of Gaziantep in Turkey signed a strategic cooperation agreement to mark a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries, according to information from the Foreign Ministry.
This new alliance, the 26th for La Guaira, strengthens key areas such as the economy, culture, the tourism sector and politics.
The governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, was the person in charge of signing the agreement by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and highlighted the importance of this alliance for the construction of the city and citizenship in areas such as family, organization, tourism, economy and education. “These are key concepts for the development of human well-being,” he said.
Terán expressed his pride and enthusiasm for starting this stage of cooperation with Gaziantep. “We are very proud to be able to begin this new stage of twinning and cooperation relations with our older sister Gaziantep, from which we have much to learn.”
The governor also highlighted the role of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of La Guaira, created by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as an engine to boost the economy and other areas of society. “Today we are taking an important step thanks to the SEZ of La Guaira. Long live La Guaira! Long live Gaziantep!”, he said.
Relations between Turkey and Venezuela are characterized by strategic cooperation in various areas, and this new agreement further strengthens these ties, opening up opportunities for the development and well-being of both regions.
