SANTIAGO.-The Regional Cibao Regional Command of the National Police reported yesterday that one of the ten most wanted people in this city and the northern zone for their alleged participation in different crimes and criminal acts were shot dead.
This is the appointed Yuneldy Manuel Mercado Díaz (La Cobra), 24 years old and who received several bullet impacts for a police patrol while trying to stop him in his residence in the Los Tocones sector, from the La Ciénega community, in the municipality of Villa González, in an event that occurred last Friday.
According to the police report, the Cobra was sought with several arrest orders issued by several judges of the Judicial District of Santiago, for events that occurred during the 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024 in different locations here and the Central Cibao.

According to the criminal record of the Cobra, he would have participated in the murder Mr. José de Jesús Ceballos Reyes, which occurred on May 30, 2024, but was also pursued for having violated articles 379 and 386-2 of the Dominican Criminal Code that typify the aggravated robbery.
At the scene of the event there were members of the Scientific Police, who collected as evidenced a 38 caliber revolver, with two caps inside and four capsules without shooting and was used to attack the police officers.
The body of the Cobra was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), for autopsy purposes.
