The Head of Government has presented the third Cablebús line as an option to promote tourism and ecology the Chapultepec Forest, where the Government of Mexico carries out the project ‘Chapultepec, Nature and Culture’, by the artist Gabriel Orozco; at the same time it will be a means to facilitate mobility to the town of Santa Fe.

“Our first objective is mobility, like all Cablebuses, from an area that is disconnected in the upper part, in this case the Álvaro Obregón mayor’s office to connectivity with the Mexico City Metro. The second objective is tourism and culture,” the president said on July 20.

The project with a budget of 2,663 million pesoss of federal resources was won in bidding by the Doppelmayr consortium and Grupo INDI; Work started at the end of November and The project is expected to be ready in December 2023.

This will be the first public transport project during the Sheinbaum government focused on the west of the city, since during this administration investment has been concentrated in the east, says Ernesto Morua Ramírez, professor of Public Policies at the FES Aragón of the UNAM.

“The current administration has focused mainly on the east, with the Cablebús Line 2 and the Elevated Trolleybus projects that are very close, the west has not had an intervention by the current government so far,” he comments in an interview with Political Expansion.
