The Minister of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires, Nicolás Kreplak, asked the population not to be guided by the tests of coronavirusbut by the symptoms, since the tests may be less efficient compared to the variant that predominates in the country.
For a few weeks, the cases of coronavirus They rose again, but most of those infected have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic. “With the variant that is circulating now, which is the BA.2, perhaps the tests that one can buy at the pharmacy are less effective. Many can test negative and then are positive ”, he expressed about the tests of COVID-19 the official.
Nicolás Kreplak recalled that when a person presents symptoms, they must do isolation, even if they are not sure if it is coronavirus. “No matter what the cause is, you must isolate yourself until you complete five days and five more days of maximum protection. That is the protocol, without the need to test yourself”he insisted.
Today you do not have to be guided by the tests but by the symptoms.
The Minister of Health pointed out that pharmacy tests often give false negatives, and this can pose a risk to other people. Although the cases of the disease are increasing considerably, the figures are well above the real ones.
The numbers that we see today represent the same number as it would have been, say, January. We stopped doing a case-by-case follow-up because hospitalizations and deaths have not increased.
Vaccination against the coronavirus
The Minister of Health of the province recalled that, due to the vaccination campaign against the illness, the lethality and severity of infections have decreased. He assured that there is no risk of saturation in the health system.
He stressed that, despite the opposition’s statements, the Sputnik V vaccine was not a mistake, since it allowed progress in the immunization of the most vulnerable populations and prevented many from losing their lives due to complications derived from the coronavirus.
