Santo Domingo.- Judge Pablo Imbert, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District, postponed for the pnext Thursday at 9:00 in the morning the hearing for the knowledge of the coercion measure against those involved in the Cattleya operation.
This at the request of the technical defenses who alleged that they require more time to study the file that the Public Ministry has presented.
The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Against Illicit Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons (PETT) requested the imposition of preventive detention against the defendants, as well as that the complex case be declared.
Court attorney Yoanna Bejarán Álvarez, responsible for the PETT, said upon leaving the court that the coercive measure exceeds 192 pages supported by a large amount of evidence collected by the Public Ministry in the first phase of investigation.
“Obviously that (the request for postponement) is due to the solidity of this investigation, which as we said before, is an investigation into transnational organized crime, very specifically, an organized group that was dedicated to dealing with women of different nationalities, Venezuelan , Colombians”, he highlighted.
“The Public Ministry maintains and supports its request for preventive detention for all, it is still requesting a declaration of a complex case in the present process,” said Bejarán Álvarez when questioned about a possible collaboration of one of the accused.
It is recalled that last Thursday the Public Ministry launched the Cattleya operation with dozens of raids in the National District and Bávaro, as a result of an investigation initiated nine months ago, with which it dismantled transnational networks dedicated to human trafficking in order to sexually exploit them; It also rescued more than 80 female victims from South America.
The MP has established that the victims were subjected to sexual exploitation, by offering them for different rates for the economic benefit of the criminal organization.
Indicted for the case are José Miguel Michel Guridis (Michel), Daniel Enrique Inirio Abreu (Daniel), José Alberto Soriano Rosario (Surgeon), Oscar Wicene, Melvin José Valentín Peguero, Cristina Virginia González Hernández, María Paula Murillo Vargas and Sergeant Dionicio Mieses of the Cross (Dionys).
Also, Louis Marie Nephtalie, Oliver Arnaud Lewinski and/or Timothy William Case Renee, Robert Lee Eleuterio Paniagua Díaz, Angélica Jhoana Quintero Niño, Marie Fokina Achille (Fior, Flor or Flores), Alejandro Arturo Batista Bustamante (the Cat), Ramón Altagracia Oviedo Castillo, Carlos Jhonatan Walwyn Campusano Díaz (Carlos) and Braulio Manuel Lugo.
The process also involves the Caribe and Oscar hotels, in the Gascue sector, of the National District, and Coco Real, in Bávaro, Punta Cana, La Altagracia province, against which the Public Ministry requests that the temporary closure be ordered.
The hearing was attended, in addition to Bejarán Álvarez, by Juan Medina de los Santos, Aleika Almonte, Belkis Ulloa, Eduardo Velázquez and Ginna Matías, representing the Public Ministry.
