Víctor Romero Peralta presented his main campaign axes: strengthening the agricultural sector, toughening measures against citizen insecurity and promoting structural reforms via referendum if he does not find support in Congress.
Agriculture is your forte and there are many needs in the sector. What legislative proposals are you carrying in your candidacy to address this?
Look, in the field of agriculture we are going to provide effective support to the farmer, the true field farmer, from the heights, who is with the shovel every day, gets up early with the pickaxe at work, and at dusk and evening with the irrigation. Government support currently does not reach real farmers; Unfortunately, it must be said very clearly: it reaches the friends of Banco Agrario, the friends of the officials. That’s where credit is lost. We must try to reach the real farmer, who breaks his back. It is also necessary to support large companies, but there is no control, there is no oversight.
Is citizen security among your priorities?
Of course, as our leader already said in his patriotic plan, starting July 28, all documents of foreigners residing in the country will be reviewed. Every foreigner must be in order and in order with their documents. The foreigner who works and is up to date with his documents stays; the irregular foreigner, expel him from the country. This is how we are going to counteract insecurity. Apart from that, enforce the laws with severity, with honesty, with morality, with courage. We must refound, as our leader says, the National Police.
Frente de la Esperanza has always been characterized by harshly criticizing corruption. How are you working to fight it?
The reform projects for the police and the Judiciary all go to the Prosecutor’s Office and the Comptroller’s Office. It is a bill that our leader is going to present immediately, assuming power, since that step is inevitable. We have to refound the country. If there is no support in Congress they will try to manipulate and will not let the government govern. In that sense, if there is no support, a referendum will be called. Via referendum we are going to correct all these anomalies.
Fuerza Popular has been one of the biggest opponents of the party and the presidential candidate. What would happen if in the new government Fuerza Popular once again obtains a majority in the Senate?
Making an alliance with Fuerza Popular is impossible. Alliance with other parties, yes, to achieve an imbalance. The alliances would be with all the other new parties that are going to enter, whatever they may be, except with those that are in government today. You cannot govern like Peru Libre is doing today. Virtually Peru Libre has joined and is a participant in this entire national disaster.
