WHAT DOES THE CODE OF NUMBERS AND LETTERS THAT ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF MY DNI MEAN?
Next, we will tell you what the lower part of the front of the DNI or the lower back of the Electronic DNI means:
first line
It starts with I, which is the type of (identity) document. It continues with the international country code of Peru, PER, and then our DNI number accompanied by a number that is the result of a mathematical operation of the DNI. The line ends with several padding < characters.
Second line
It begins with our date of birth written in six characters (year, month and day), followed by another check digit based on mathematical operations on that date. A letter continues that indicates our sex (M for male or F for female) and again another date, the expiration date of the DNI. Next, another check digit (in this case, based on the expiration date) and our nationality in three letters. Add more padding < characters and end with another check digit.

These are our first surnames and first names, separated by filler characters.

WHAT DO THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL BAR CODES ON MY DNI MEAN?
On the lower back of the DNI appears the two-dimensional barcode, PDF417, which contains the biometric information of the fingerprint of the right index of the holder or his substitute. Also, on the far right of the back, there is a linear Code39 barcode with the holder’s Unique Identification Code.

WHAT IS THE ID CARD CODE?
On the edge of the right side of the back of the DNI – yellow, blue or electronic – there are eight red digits, which in some digital services may ask you to enter their forms. This is the file code of your National Identity Document (DNI) and serves as a security measure to verify your identity.

WHAT DOES THE UBIGEO OF BIRTH ON MY DNI MEAN?
This code indicates the geographical location of the place where you were born and appears on your National Identity Document (DNI). For security, it is possible that some digital services ask you for this information to validate your identity. On the blue DNI it appears on the front, while on the DNIe it is on the back.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOUR ID WEIGHS?
The blue DNI has a weight of 13 grams and is made of durable wood pulp fiber composite material and has color printing using laser technology. It is coated with polyethylene and polyester for molecular integration with the paper and resistance to use, heat-sealable film. It has a thickness of 250 microns. The DNIe weighs 19 grams.
