Kimberly García and César Rodríguez thanked all Peruvians for their support during the competition. García was satisfied with the results, however, Rodríguez said he was not happy with the result, being one step away from an Olympic medal in the mixed relay race.

Kimberly García: “We have given our all”
The athlete said she was satisfied with the results because she believes that this time they gave their all and went against all odds, since statistically they should have finished in 8th place, however, thanks to their effort they achieved 4th place.
“Here it doesn’t only depend on us, but also on the judge. I had to try to march as quickly as possible, marching clearly, so that the judge doesn’t give me another slap,” García explained.
On the other hand, regarding her 16th place in the women’s race walk, she said that she had other expectations and that recovering emotionally was difficult, “obviously it hurts a lot, but I have tried to be well,” she said. In this new competition she stressed that she gave her all and feels satisfied.

César Rodríguez: “We are not happy with the results”
During his statements, César Rodríguez apologized for his mood, saying he was not happy with the results. However, he thanked all the Peruvians who supported them: “This is motivating, it helps us not to give up.”
Both race walkers pointed out that this competition not only depended on them, but that a judge was also waiting for their performance.
