The Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, assured this Monday in the city of Mar del Plata that 16.4 million people visited the province this summer, which represents a record and an increase of 4.2 percent compared to the previous one. and noted that it was “the most important season in history.”
In this sense, he highlighted the impact of the Paradores Recreo installed by the provincial government in different tourist locations, which were visited by more than 1.2 million people and had the participation of 2,500 artists and cultural workers, 270 shows, 600 activities in cultural circuits and 250 theater performances.
“Recreo inns are a policy of equal opportunities for everyone. We were able to give all families, shows, entertainment and games until the last day of the season,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of Banco Provincia’s DNI Account, which exceeded 6 million users, and “had a lot to do with this season being a record”, thanks to “a battery of proposals for discounts, promotions and refunds”.
He assured, in turn, that the impact of this virtual wallet and its benefits was highlighted by dozens of businessmen from the region with whom he had met hours before, as part of his visit to the city.
“There is a long way to go, but we have the results in sight of an impressive season in terms of statistics. This is what we have to maintain as a floor,” said Kicillof, and referred to the need for “this record-breaking season extends throughout the year,”
He pointed out that “Buenos Aires is a productive province” and “the model of indebtedness and flight does not work for it.”
The Minister of Production, Science and Technological Innovation of the Province, Augusto Costa, also participated in the event, who said that it was the season with “the greatest tourist flow on record.”
In this sense, he compared with the last season of the Juntos por el Cambio government, and said that the level of visitors was 29.2 percent higher, which represents 3.6 million people, equivalent in turn to the number of vacationers that Mar del Plata received.
“We have to understand that when the right context is in place to develop tourism activities, tourism works, tourist towns generate work and people enjoy themselves,” he said.
He also specified that the average hotel occupancy on the Atlantic Coast was 91 percent, with places “practically full” such as Mar Chiquita, Partido de La Costa, Villa Gesell or Monte Hermoso.
Along with Kicillof and Costa were also the president of the Cultural Institute of the Province, Florencia Saintout, and the director of the National Social Security Administration, Fernando Raverta.
Also present was the Minister of Culture of the Nation, Tristán Bauer, who in turn participated in his visit to the city in the meeting with leaders of cultural and tourist productive sectors.
