President Gustavo Petro plans to hold a meeting with the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, this Monday at the Casa de Nariño. It would be the first meeting of the Colombian president with the Biden administration, since his inauguration.
The Secretary of State of the American administration has scheduled to meet on the afternoon of this Monday, October 3, with the Colombian presidentprior to an intense tour of countries in the region such as Chile and Peru.
The visit of the Biden Government official comes in the midst of the position that Colombia has established abroad against the drug war policy.
The Colombian president laid a strong position in his speech to the United Nationswhich would be the central axis of the Petro-Blinken meeting.
The foregoing is reinforced by the confirmation of the State Department that indicates that said meeting will serve as a review what would be “a comprehensive approach to combat drug trafficking and mitigate its impacts on health, safety and the environment” and that it will also offer its “collaboration” to give way to continue implementing the Peace Agreement with the FARC.
Likewise, migration policy would also be a key axis in Blinken’s visit to Colombia, after the official reopening of the border with Venezuelawhich again puts on the table the role of the country and its relationship with Nicolás Maduro.
After passing through Colombia, United States Secretary of State plans to visit Santiago de Chile and hold a meeting with Gabriel Boric at the same time and later with Pedro Castillo, the head of state of Peru.

Blinken will also participate in Lima, Peru, in the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS)which will be held from Wednesday to Friday.
