This week it could be approved, in the first debate, two of the seven reforms promoted by the Government of President Gustavo Petro in their process in the Congress of the Republic.

On the one hand, Commission I of the Senate will begin to discuss justice reform, while Commission VII of the House of Representatives will continue with the first debate of the law that transforms the health system.

In the case of the justice reform, the objective of the Casa de Nariño and the ruling party is to conclude the first debate this week, since in Commission I the political reform will arrive in the coming weeks, which is a priority because if it is not approved In his fourth debate before December 16, he sinks. Likewise, this legislative cell will jointly discuss the ordinary law of agrarian jurisdiction.
Health reform
For its part, the discussion will continue in the House, in the first debate. On paper, the Government has the votes for its new health reform to be approved in the House of Representatives.
On paper, the continuation of the first debate on this project is scheduled for this Tuesday as the first item on the agenda, which was presented again because in April the initial proposal of the House of Nariño was sunk in the Senate.
The day will continue with the vote on the positive proposal, for which the Government would have the votes. Then, it is expected that discussion will begin today on the articles that, according to the Government, seek to focus the health system so that it is preventive.
It is not ruled out that this week the first debate in that commission will be concluded and the discussion will take place in the plenary session of the House of Representatives, where the Government also has the majorities.
Other reforms that are in process
Parallel to these two reforms that are the protagonists of the week, five other initiatives of Executive origin or supported by the Government are underway.
There are two constitutional reforms, one of the political system and another of the General Participation System. The latter was promoted by the Minister of the Interior, Juan Fernando Cristo, before entering the Government, but obtained the support of President Petro.
Besides, The labor reform is being processed, which in the coming weeks will be discussed in Commission VII of the Chamber.
The ordinary law of agrarian jurisdiction is also under discussion, which is the last step for that instance to become firm after the approval of the legislative act and the statutory law.
Finally, a reform of Law 30 was filed, led by the Ministry of Education, but this could be left for the next semester.
