The order was formalized by Popular Renewal through Official Letter No. 043-2025-2026-GPRP/CR on January 21. The document requests to urgently convene the Plenary Session to discuss Jerí’s permanence in office, after questions about alleged functional misconduct.

Fuerza Popular avoids supporting the Extraordinary Plenary Session
The bench of Popular Force He is not among the signatories of the order. There are 20 congressmen who so far do not support the urgent call to debate the motion of censure.
Among them are: Alejandro Aguinaga, Luis Alegría, Rosangella Barbaran, Carlos Bustamante, Eduardo Castillo, Merly Chacón, Víctor Flores, Raúl Huamán, Mery Infantes, David Jiménez, Patricia Juárez, Jeny López, Martha Moyano, Auristela Obando, Tania Ramirez, César Revilla, Magally Santisteban, Héctor Ventura, María Zeta and Fernando Rospigliosi, president of Congress.
The absence of their signatures is relevant due to the numerical weight of Fujimorism in Congress. Under the slogan of defending the country’s stability, the group led by Keiko Fujimori gives its support to Jerí’s already questioned management and marks a difference compared to other groups that demand that the issue be discussed in plenary. Without their votes, the correlation of forces favors the permanence of José Jerí in the Government Palace.
Alliance for Progress does not sign the motion either
In the case of Alliance for Progress17 congressmen have not signed the request for Extraordinary Plenary. The bench responds to the political leadership of Cesar Acuna and has a key presence in parliamentary decision-making due to the number of parliamentarians it has.
The list includes: María Acuña, Lady Camones, Roberto Chiabra, Luis Cordero, José Elías, Jorge Flores, Idelso García, Nelcy Heidinger, Edith Julon, Roberto Kamiche, Juan Lizarzaburu, Jorge Marticorena, Segundo Quiroz, Magaly Ruiz, Eduardo Salhuana, Alejandro Soto and Rosio Torres. None has so far supported the censorship initiative.
Days before, César Acuña stressed during the presentation of his party’s spokespersons for the electoral campaign that they were the first to request the resignation of José Jerí, but that the president ignored said request. The APP bench has not signed any of the seven motions of censure presented against Jerí.
Ruth Luque denounces Fernando Rospigliosi’s attempt to stop debate
On the other hand, congresswoman Ruth Luque, through her account on X, stated that the president of Congress, Fernando Rospigliosi, would seek to prevent motions of censure against José Jerí are debated in plenary.

Podemos Peru is not far behind. Several congressmen from this group have not signed the request to convene the Extraordinary Plenary Session. Among them are: José Arriola, Guido Bellido, Digna Calle, Darwin Espinoza, Heidy Juárez, José Luna, Ariana Orué, Francis Paredes, Luis Picón and Nivardo Édgar.
Some parliamentarians from Acción Popular, a group that also joined the signing of the motions of censure against José Jerí, still have not signed the letter. Among them are: Carlos Alva, Ilich López and Elvis Vergara. In the case of the Honor and Democracy bench, only one member has not yet signed the request: Javier Padilla. While from the group of ungrouped congressmen it is Raúl Doroteo, who still does not support the initiative.
The sum of these benches shows that the request for an Extraordinary Plenary Session faces resistance. Although the number of signatures is expected to reach 60 by the end of the day, the role of the blocks linked to Keiko Fujimori and César Acuña is decisive in the immediate future of José Jerí.
