Kattya González, candidate for senator for the PEN and member of the Concertación, said that politicians who have been active in the opposition trying to be coherent and offering proposals for a better country should avoid narrow triumphalism by hanging from a tree without seeing the forest .
“We have to know how to interpret ordinary people and not just the unconditional ones. We must be able to achieve real consensus to achieve true popular support. It would be suicidal to turn a blind eye to absenteeism and blank votes. Those are messages that politicians must know how to read if we want to reach the people. The ‘cháke’ just doesn’t excite or mobilize. We are waiting for a meeting to find out how we are going to articulate, ”he commented.
He urged the PLRA to present an agenda that is capable of calling meetings.
“The liberal party insisted on leading the plate so as not to compromise the chances of the Concertación. If the Concertación law implies a co-government, it will not be the PLRA that will govern but the opposition parties”, he pointed out.
Finally, he maintained that the Colorado party has a vocation for enormous power and is a great electoral apparatus, not exactly one of proposals and alternatives.
“I do not believe that the differences that exist today affect their ability to mobilize the electorate,” he concluded.
