The former president of the Commission of Parliamentary Ethics Karol Paredes said that the person responsible for the delay in the debate in the plenary of the final reports that recommend the suspension of the congressmen Raúl Dorote Elvis Vergara.
“If the president sends it through a document, that is taken by the board of directors, if not no one knows that the processes exist. There is the president, there is a responsibility of the president of the commission,” he said.
In statements a Peru21Paredes insisted that if the reports were already approved by majority and recommend sanctions to the parliamentarians “it depends directly on the president of the commission processing their debate” in the plenary. “There is no possibility that the board of directors, ex officio, put them on the agenda,” he added.
As reported Peru21between December 2024 and May 2025 the Ethics Commission approved, by majority, three final reports that recommend suspending between 60 and 120 days the congressmen Raúl Doroteo de Action Popular; María Agüero de Peru Libre and Darwin Espinoza de Podemos Peru.
In the case of Doroteo and Agüero, the reports realize that there are enough elements of conviction that both appropriated part of the remuneration of workers of their respective offices, which is why it is recommended to suspend them in their functions without enjoyment for 120 days.
In the case of Darwin Espinoza, the report suggests a 60 -day suspension for having used workers from their state office and assets to collect signatures for the Ancash Regional Movement.
Speaking to this newspaper, Paredes said that “in public management it is the papers who send.” “The commissions cannot be for pleasure.
