This Saturday, November 23, Karelim López Arredondo, former collaborator of former President Pedro Castillo and alleged subordinate of former head of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárolawas surprised to find a grenade hanging on the door handle of her home. The object was inside a black plastic bag and secured with a large amount of duct tape. It is presumed that it was placed at the door of the property around 6 in the morning.
Police Station Agents PNP of Breña cordoned off the area around the home of businesswoman Karelim López, located in the aforementioned Lima district, after the alert of an alleged explosive device hanging on the metal handle of her door. Explosive Disposal Unit Personnel (UDEX) is already in place. It should be noted that it was the neighbors who notified the security personnel of the situation.
According to information collected in the vicinity, security cameras installed near the home were identified, which could be key to identifying the possible perpetrators. The images will be analyzed with the aim of determining the identity of the people involved and specifying the moment in which the suspicious object was left.
Karelim López’s lawyer, Martin Salasstated on ‘Canal N’ that they allegedly attribute the attack to Samir Villaverde and that they had received anonymous threats by email. Likewise, he indicated that his client observed in the bag containing the explosive a paper with an inscription, which he decided not to touch out of fear until the arrival of the specialized authorities.
Otárola’s relationship with Karelim López and threats received
Yaziré Pinedo, in recent statementsassured that Karelim Lopezan alleged close collaborator of Alberto Otárola, played a key role in the coercion. According to Pinedo, López would have instructed his statements to protect the politician’s image. He also claimed to have received death threats, which has increased his concern for the safety of his family.
“When I was at Mrs. Karelim’s house, not only did Karelim López threaten me, but she gave it to me on the phone, she told me he is my boss, I saw his contact and it was not with the name Alberto Otárola, he had it registered like CHAPULIN and when he passed it to me it was Otárola,” said Pinedo.
