Kareén Ríos has more than 23 years of experience, has worked and collaborated with different authorities in the city of Tacna and the high Andean area, has a diploma in public management, knowledge in project management, a diploma from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and knows the things that can be done and what should not be repeated.
Why do you make this leap from the technical to the political field?
Because many times I have taken the proposals to the authorities and they do not make the decision, this time I am the one who wants to make the decision and sign, I have been working for more than 20 years in tourism with a cross-border approach with Bolivia and Chile but we have not seen progress or very little, people come to consume for health, dental and by the way they stay, sometimes they go to Valle Viejo, but not even 10% go to Tarata, Candarave or other destinations that we are going to develop in our proposal.
What is the purpose you want to achieve?
We are going to jointly undertake Sama Las Yaras for the potential of the Paso horses; Inclán guinea pigs, shrimp; Gregorio Albarracín with Valle 2000 with adventure sports, making better use of that hill, the culture and the fruits. La Yarada Los Palos in the same way, we don’t have to go to the beach only in summer, we have possibilities for agrotourism, olives, learning to fish. Here we have to build four boulevards but not in the center but in Alto de la Alianza, Ciudad Nueva, Gregorio Albarracín, in places that do not interfere with the peace and tranquility of the people.
He has stressed that he wants Tacna to be the best showcase of Peru for the world
We are a region that after the Jorge Chávez airport is the highest point of entry for tourists in Peru, obviously this is with the pandemic, but we are going to be the highest entry point again, people pass through here and leave Arequipa, Ilo, Moquegua , Cusco, they don’t stay, that’s what’s missing, the best is put in a showcase, here in Tacna we have colonies of Cajamarcans, Arequipeños, from Cusco, jungle, so taking advantage of their uses and customs in a cultural calendar show all of Peru From Tacna, we can sell all of Peru.
What will you do in road infrastructure?
Reorder the traffic of buses and vans, we have a project with smart stops, expansion of routes, also a 24-hour service like the big capitals, that is not only useful for tourists but for those of us who live here, you want go shopping at the market at dawn where the most affordable prices are and you have to spend 14 soles in a taxi when you could go and return by bus. The Caja Municipal de Tacna has to benefit the entrepreneurs, we have to make a plan to modernize the fleet. The taxi drivers are going to go on a list so that they can work with these licenses that we are going to give in these places hand in hand with a security plan, these disappearances, rapes and murders cannot be happening.
How would you solve the congestion of the Grau market?
More than 6,000 soles a day enter the market and they are not reinvested, we need to modernize the markets, we are talking about a market that has a vehicle park in the basement, in the first instance the suppliers with vegetables and those who sell products such as rice in a third level, we are talking about large markets that we deserve. We also have to work with Albarracín because it is a much larger area and deserves such a market.
