Sol Sandoval is the athlete of the moment in Bolivia and is not for less. She became the first representative of our country to win a gold medal at the Juventus South American Games, in the Argentine city of Rosario. She was in the discipline of karate, on Wednesday.

The montereña by birth hung the golden metal by becoming champion in the -53 kg category. To achieve this result, Sol told TEN about the sacrifices she makes to be able to train daily in Santa Cruz, since she has to travel more than 100 kilometers round trip every day.

Practicing karate made her very disciplined, since at school she is also an outstanding student. She is currently 16 years old (04-01-2006) and is in the fifth year of secondary school at the María Auxiliadora school.

“I am one of the best students in my class. Last year they even gave me a diploma”, revealed the South American champion who recalled how she started in karate.

“One day we were passing with my family by the Gilberto Parada de Montero Coliseum and there I saw a boy enter with a karate uniform. With my sister we told my dad that we wanted to practice that sporthe made the inquiries and that’s how I started doing karate”, he says.

She recognizes that before her, no one in his family practiced karate; However, many know her for being the granddaughter of Pedro Duarte, a Paraguayan who came to play in Guabirá.

“Very happy and glad to be the first Bolivian to win gold for my country in these games. Very proud to represent Bolivia… It was a very difficult competition, especially the semifinal and the final. It has been very hard, but we managed, ”she expressed.
