JxC supported Conte Grand and announced that they will not accompany a political trial

Procurator of the province, Julio Conte Grand.

The blocks of Senators and Deputies in the Buenos Aires Legislature of Together for Change (JxC) supported “the institutional continuity of the Procurator of the province”, Julio Conte Grand, and advanced that they will not accompany the impeachment against him, promoted by the ruling party , considering it part of the so-called “judicial table” that is presumed to have existed during the government of Mauricio Macri.

“In the face of repeated attacks by different referents of the provincial government, without legal support, who since the beginning of their administration have tried to destabilize and force the resignation of the Attorney General, JxC maintains the need to respect the institutional framework and the democratic foundations provided by the Constitution, “they said in a statement.

In the text, signed by the Board of Together in the province of Buenos Aires and the banks of Senators and Deputies of the province, it was recalled that Conte Grand “was elected by the vote of all the legislative blocks in the Senate” of Buenos Aires.

It is that the block of the Frente de Todos (FdT) in Deputies promotes the removal of Conte Grand for “poor performance” in the exercise of his functions, considering that he was linked to the judicial table set up by officials of the government of María Eugenia Vidal, agents of the AFI and businessmen in an alleged set of cases against trade unionists.

Last week, the inspector of the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI), Cristina Caamaño, filed a complaint with the federal justice of La Plata after she found in that body a disk that contained a recording made on June 15, 2017, in which officials of the Vidal government and intelligence agents allegedly orchestrated a persecution and armed causes of union organizations, while they held a meeting with La Plata construction businessmen.

In this sense, the JxC stated in the statement that “the methodology of the ruling party shows, once again, that it pursues purposes other than a healthy democracy, and attacks the institutions in order to achieve impunity for its political force.”

“For this reason, JxC agrees not to endorse with its vote the institutional outrage in the form of impeachment proposed by the ruling party,” they warned.

They argued that “democracy supposes the balance of powers, not the hegemonic vocation of the sum of public power for spurious purposes.”

In the broadcast video that is now being investigated by the federal Justice, among others, the then Minister of Labor from Buenos Aires, Marcelo Villegas; the former Minister of Provincial Infrastructure, Roberto Gigante; Adrián Grassi, former Undersecretary of Justice of Buenos Aires; Juan Pablo Allan, provincial senator; and the mayor of La Plata, Julio Garro, as well as businessmen and intelligence agents Sebastián De Stefano, AFI legal director, and Darío Biorci, then brother-in-law and chief of staff of Silvia Majdalani, AFI deputy director.

At the meeting, Villegas expressed his desire to have a “Gestapo” – the political police of the Nazi regime – to take action against the unions in Argentina.
