The national deputy of the Frente de Todos for Jujuy Leila Chaher affirmed this Sunday that “Together for Change intends to leave more than 10,000 Jujueños and Jujeñas without retirement”, referring to the bill for Pension Debt Payment Plan from which it awaits its treatment and approval in the enclosure.

The legislator from Jujuy also indicated that “The objective is that more than 800,000 workers can access this important right” recalling that “since last year we have been insisting on the treatment of this law, it is a new moratorium that we urgently need.”

Through a press release, Chaher recalled that “in December we were all spectators of the show that the opposition gave by not giving a quorum and not wanting to deal with this law”, for which he questioned: “Who can be against the fact that our relatives who worked all their lives can retire?”

Chaher affirmed that in Jujuy more than 10,000 people are waiting for this project to be able to retire, “that is why we want to move forward leaving aside instances that harm our people and that are used by the opposition” that “has a story in relation to the older adults in the media.

“Those of us who believe in a present State do not want to see people of 75 or 80 years of age having to work because they could not access a decent retirement,” he remarked and pointed out that in 2014 the then Nestor Kirchner promoted the first retirement moratorium.

On the other hand, Chaher denied that this project causes underfunding of the National Social Security Administration (Anses), since in budgetary terms it means 0.19 points of GDP.

“Those of us who believe in a present State do not want to see people of 75 or 80 years of age having to work because they could not access a dignified retirement.”Leila Chaher

“We Argentines know where we come from: from the AFJP and from years where men and women could not access a retirement. Today we are one of the countries with the highest percentages in relation to the number of workers who have access to a right as fundamental as retirement,” he explained.

And added that “Almost 95% of people are included in the Argentine Pension System and with this law we would cover 98% of the population that is of age to access this right.”

Later, interviewed by a national media, she recalled that the initiative “is provided for in the Budget that they accompanied for the period of 2023”, and stressed that “we are not giving anything away to anyone because it is guaranteeing a right to those who worked all their life and that for various reasons did not make the necessary contributions.

The Pension Debt Payment Plan bill provides for two possibilities: on the one hand, for those who reach the age and do not meet the number of years of contributions; and on the other, the possibility of payment for those people who have ten or less years to retire and still know that when they meet that time they will continue to lack years of contributions, according to what he indicated.
