The movie anatomy of a fallby the French Justine Triet, today won the Palme d’Or at the 76th edition of the cannes film festival and made its director the third woman to win the highest award at the French Côte d’Azur film event.
The entire team of this film -which deals with the case of a man who dies when he falls out of the window in his house in the mountains, at a time when only his wife, his blind son and his dog were there- climbed to the stage to collect the award, which had been in charge of announcing the American actress Jane Fonda.

Before Triet, the only women to have won the Palme d’Or were Jane Campion for The pianoin 1993, and Julia Ducournau, for titane in 2021. In this edition, Ducournau was part of the jury, chaired by the Swede Ruben Östlund and also integrated, among others, by the Argentine filmmaker Damián Szifron.
Another big favourite. the area of interest of the British Jonathan Glazer, won the Grand Prix.
The award for Best Director went to the French-Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung for The Passion of Dodin Bouffantstarring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel,
In script, the award went to the Japanese Yuji Sakamoto for Monstera film directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda that deals with childhood and homosexuality.

In the interpretation section, the winners were the Turkish Merve Dizdar (Dry Grassesby Nuri Bilge Ceylan), and the Japanese Koji Yakusho (Perfect Daysby Wim Wenders).
The list of feature films was completed Fallen Leaves by the Finnish Aki Kaurismäki, who was awarded the Jury Prize.
Regarding the short films, the winning work of the Palme d’Or was 27by the Hungarian Flóra Anna Buda, while the Icelandic farby Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter, received a special mention.
In the Cclosing ceremony The Golden Camera was also awarded to the best debut feature presented at Cannes (including its parallel sections), which went to the Vietnamese Thien An Pham for Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shellpresented as part of the Filmmakers’ Fortnight and which counts Fasten Films from Barcelona among its co-producers.
The closing of this 76th edition at the Gran Théatre Lumiére will be completed tonight with the screening of Elementarythe new Pixar movie.
Before the gala, in addition to the winning teams, movie stars and popular faces such as Orlando Bloom, Quentin Tarantino, Geri Halliwell, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Eva Longoria had paraded down the red carpet.
