Justice rejects the amparo appeal presented by Héctor and Ernesto Llaitul and they must continue to be held in the Bío Bío Prison

The Court of Appeals of Concepción rejected the amparo appeal filed by the defense of Héctor Llaitul -who is in pretrial detention accused of five crimes-, and his son Ernesto Llaitul, for which they will remain in the Bío Bío prison.

The appeal, which included Ricardo Delgado and Esteban Henríquez, two other CAM members who are in pretrial detention, sought to declare the Gendarmerie’s decision to deny the transfer of the four subjects to El Manzano prison illegal and arbitrary. the Temuco prison, in order to be admitted to a module for community members and allow compliance with the measure according to the Mapuche custom.

In the ruling, the Court noted that in the Bío Bío Prison, the inmates are in a special module, isolated from the rest of the prison population, with a view to the correct development of their culture and traditions, even allowing the visit of Mapuche authorities and the income of typical foods of the diverse communities.

It should be remembered that the head of the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM), Héctor Llaitul, is in pretrial detention and is accused of five crimes, including incitement and apology for violence under the State Security Law; simple theft; attack against authority and usurpation.
