Justice decrees preventive detention for three of the six detainees for the murder of second sergeant Rita Olivares

The Quilpué Guarantee Court decreed the measure of preventive detention for three of the six detainees for the murder of the second sergeant of the Carabineros, Rita Olivares, who lost her life in the middle of a police control last Sunday.

During the hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office presented the evidence collected, explaining in detail how the robbery and subsequent armed attack that ended with the death of the police officer occurred. Specifically, the detainees who must comply with the aforementioned precautionary measure are Miguel Acevedo, Elizabeth Soto and Luis Martínez.

For their part, the other three detainees must return to jail to serve their pending sentences. This, since the three subjects are part of the group of inmates who escaped from the facilities of the Valparaíso Penitentiary Center in 2021.

Thus, when Matías Ignacio Peralta Parra, Maximiliano Alexander Fuenzalida and Edward Fuenzalida Leiva return to jail, sanctions for violation will be added.

In this way, a period of five months was decreed for the investigation into the murder of Sergeant Rita Olivares, who a few days ago was posthumously promoted by the institution to the rank of major non-commissioned officer.
