The Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago decreed the precautionary measure of preventive detention against those accused of the crime of the police officer Daniel Palma. The foregoing, after the Prosecutor’s Office charged them with a series of crimes for the fact.
In this sense, the Prosecutor’s Office charged Ovimarlixion Garcés with the crime of murder of a Carabineros official in the exercise of his duties. Likewise, it formalized it for the crimes of robbery with intimidation, reception of stolen vehicle, frustrated homicide, possession of a prohibited weapon and kidnapping.
For his part, Luis Lugo Machado was formalized for the crimes of robbery with intimidation, frustrated homicide, robbery with intimidation with retention of person. Meanwhile, David Fuentes was charged with the crimes of frustrated homicide and robbery with intimidation with retention of person.
It should be remembered that the event took place last Wednesday, April 5 at night, when at the intersection of San Francisco and Coquimbo streets, in the Santiago commune, a complaint was filed for shots fired on public roads.
Given this, two uniformed officers went to the sector in search of those responsible, including Petty Officer Palma. In this context, the uniformed man, when trying to control the vehicle, was shot without warning by Ovimarlixion Garcés. After the fact, he was rushed to the former Posta Central, where he subsequently lost his life.
In this way, the magistrate of the Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago, Pilar Ahumada, determined a period of six months for the investigation of the case, a period of time where the three formalized, of Venezuelan nationality, must remain in prison.
