Larrosa was denounced at the time for torture committed against trade unionist Hermes Pastorini, when he was confined in the Infantry Battalion No. 8 of Paysandú.
Hermes was arrested at his home on the night of May 14, 1974, transferred to the Paysandú Infantry Battalion No. 8, where he was subjected to torture during the 12 days he remained in said barracks.
He was then transferred to Salto and later to the Libertad prison, where he remained detained until 1980.
Retired captain Ramón Larrosa Santomauro was an Intelligence liaison (S2), for which he conducted the interrogations and torture of detainees.
seven years in prison
For his part, the prosecutor specializing in Crimes Against Humanity, Ricardo Perciballe, said that the 2nd shift Paysandú judge, Macarena Santoro, admitted his accusation and sentenced retired captain Ramón Larrosa Santomauro, for “abuse of authority against detainees and deprivation of of freedom”.
Perciballe told Underlined that the sentence was reached after an extensive preliminary hearing, where the complaint made by Hermes Pastorini was analyzed, who was subject to Military Justice for the sole fact of being a trade unionist, was imprisoned for a long time and was subjected to torture.
Within the framework of the process, the Prosecutor’s Office accused the retired soldier, and requested eight years in prison. The judge sentenced him to seven years in prison. Although Larrosa is sentenced to effective prison, the retired soldier suffers from “serious health problems and will serve his sentence under house arrest.”
Perciballe reported that the work was based on the testimonies of the victims, with the crossing of data from the personal files of the military and, also, from files of the Military Justice.
