Junín: President Jerí attends to the protest and offers to reactivate work on the JU-103 highway

President José Jerí arrived this Saturday at the paralyzed section of the JU-103 highway, where residents of the Yacus and Pancán valleys have been holding a sit-in for days to demand the resumption of the road work that connects Jauja with the central jungle. The president listened to the complaints of the communities, who had been waiting for his presence since early hours.

At the site, the residents explained that the stoppage of the project, valued at more than S/ 196 million, has generated risks due to rain, damage to homes, deterioration of roads and damage to agricultural production. In addition, they reported delays, lack of payments and abandonment of work fronts.

After verifying the situation, President Jerí promised to manage technical assistance and the immediate shipment of heavy machinery through the Ministry of Housing, in order to reactivate work on the section. The communities received the announcement with expectation, but warned that they will remain vigilant until they see concrete progress.
