In the Junín region, the political situation is at a critical point, with a significant number of local authorities facing recall attempts. The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) has issued recall kits for several mayors and councilors, highlighting a notable dissatisfaction with their management. Currently, a total of 6 provincial mayors and 26 district mayors, as well as 33 councilors, are under the risk of recall in Junín. Of these, several provincial mayors have up to two recall kits issued against them.

Among them are Cesar Augusto Merea Tello, provincial mayor of Satipo; Elio Munzon Zevallos Meza (3) of Junin; Walter Jimenez Jimenez, of Tarma and Edson Crisostomo of Yauli, who face serious questions. In addition, the mayor of Huancayo, Dennys Cuba Rivera, also faces two requests for recall.
Of the 9 provincial mayors elected in the 2022 elections, 6 are currently at risk of recall, representing approximately 67% of the total. This figure reflects a crisis of legitimacy in the provincial leadership.
This level of rejection also extends to the mayors of Pilcomayo, Huamancaca, San Agustín and San Jerónimo, who each face two requests.
