Junín: Houses fill with sewage from floods in Orcotuna

Sewage with excrement that entered the houses of the first neighborhood council of Jirón Cuzco, in the district of Orcotuna, province of Concepción in the Junín region, ended up causing concern in the occupants who spent much of the night preventing the flooding from contaminating more environments and generate infections in the weakest. The affected owners blame the company Sedam Huancayo for not carrying out the agreed desilting.

The flooding was recorded since early yesterday morning. The residents, upon waking up, found that their rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and others ended up full of sewage.

“We just had the drain installed, however we have these kinds of problems. I fear for my family, because there are children who play in my yard and older adults who pass by here every day,” they said.

“I use the drain only to dispose of the water with which I wash my clothes. To avoid these floods, I use a silo that I have in the back of my house, but now I have to disinfect and dispose of the water by making a hole through my patio”, claimed Cecilia Inga.

There are an average of 8 houses affected. The residents of the area report that last week they warned of the collapse of this drain, because on previous dates it was noticed that the level of the mailboxes rose suddenly.

“This drain is only two years old. They recently built a track down the street and the Sedam Huancayo company is asking us to pay S/500 for the right to use the drain. How are we going to pay them if they don’t do proper maintenance?

Some 4 workers from the Sedam Huancayo company arrived aboard a van. With the support of some cables, they managed to remove some solid waste that allowed the stagnant water to flow.

“The problem that we are evidencing is the misuse of the drains, because they are throwing hair, cattle excrement, shoe clips and even condoms, which ends up closing the pipes and will cause damage like this,” the servers reported. of the EPS.

The demand of the neighbors is the maintenance of the pipes, with specialized equipment, since they mention that there were cases of minors who ended up with hives and allergies, due to the constant contamination. They assure that they will not make payments for the right of drainage until their problem is solved.
