In the third quarter of 2024, criminal activity increased nationwide. Although insecurity affects the entire national territory, the cities most affected by crime are: Lima, Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Ica, Arequipa and Callao, which concentrate 73.3% of criminal incidents. Among the most common crimes are robberies and aggravated robberies (72.1%), extortion (13.2%), homicides (4.1%) and kidnappings (0.5%).
In Junín, the indicators indicate that the perception of insecurity has decreased and police production is high.
According to the National Observatory of Citizen Security, the indicators on the behavior of the crime incidence have decreased. For example, in the Junín Police Region, in 2023, 5,439 reports of theft were received; In 2024 there were 3,074 and this 2025 there are 24 complaints. Only in the first 5 days of 2025, the police carried out 1,672 operations, with 179 suspects captured; 983 people arrested for different crimes; 40 juvenile offenders detained; 22 vehicles, mostly stolen motorcycles, were recovered.
Likewise, in two weeks 259 citizens have been arrested for common danger (driving while intoxicated); 16 criminal gangs were dismantled, 587 cell phones were confiscated, almost all of them reported stolen, 2,987 tickets were issued to offenders and 299 foreigners were detained.
